Mukteshwar Dham Temple is a 350-year-old shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, perched at the highest point of the town. Revered as a sacred site, it holds spiritual significance for devotees and visitors alike. The temple is enveloped by ancient deodar trees, adding to its serene and timeless atmosphere. Reaching the temple involves a short uphill walk, often described as a meditative climb—quiet and introspective, with panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. It’s a place where natural beauty and spiritual calm meet.
CHAULI KI JALI
Chauli Ki Jali is a dramatic rock outcrop located just behind the Mukteshwar Dham Temple, perched at the edge of a steep cliff. From this natural vantage point, visitors are treated to sweeping, unobstructed views of the Kumaon Himalayas—on clear days, even Nanda Devi is visible in the distance. The site is steeped in local legend: according to folklore, a battle between a goddess and a demon took place here, and the rock bears marks said to be from that encounter. The word ‘Jali’ refers to the lattice-like holes in the rocks, believed by some to possess spiritual power—women pray here for fertility and blessings.
